Unit Marked WWI German Ersatz Bayonet
$225.00
The bayonet has a 12-1/4 inch blade which is without nicks, chips, or active rust, while showing spots and scratches as well as a gray cast. The grip is cast, also showing spots and an uncleaned patina, and with a split muzzle ring. The guard is marked “E.L.84.” followed by what appears to be a royal inspection mark. The marking would suggest that the bayonet was issued to the 84th Regiment of an Ersatz-Bataillon of a Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment (Replacement Battalion, Landwehr Infantry Regiment). The bayonet scabbard shows wear to the finish but it is complete and intact. Overall good field used condition.
