The model 1940 combat helmet displays an age toned field green paint which exhibits spots, scratches, and abrasions as well as some surface rust, but which remains approximately eighty percent intact. The single army eagle decal is approximately seventy-five percent intact. The full leather liner is present on the interior, with an intact drawstring. The interior side of the helmet bears the mark of “SE 66”, reflecting a size 66 helmet shell that was manufactured by the firm of Sachsishe Emaillerwerke. The leather chin strap is in place. The interior rear visor of the helmet bears the painted name of “Uffz. [Unteroffizier] Zabel”. Overall the helmet is in very good condition.
