Named WWII Peacoat and Jumper with Extensive Chinese Embroidery of a Crewman of the U.S.S. Nashville – “Yangtze Patrol”

$575.00

The group consists of a WWII U.S. Navy seaman’s jumper and a U.S. Navy peacoat. Both of the garments contain Chinese embroidery and both having the name of “G.W. Arnold”. The embroidery features the designation of the cruiser U.S.S. Nashville, as well as the designation of the “Yangtze Patrol” and “Shang Hai China”. The U.S.S. Nashville had an exceptionally interesting service record during the Second World War, which included escorting the Doolittle raid carrier and sinking a Japanese picket ship just before the launch of the Doolittle raid; returning General Douglas MacArthur to the Philippines; and suffering a significant kamikazre attack, before assuming patrol duty in China. Both the jumper and the pea coat shows use, but both are in overall very good condition.
