The artificial silk flag is approximately 26-1/2 inches by 33-1/2 inches. Two reinforced corners retain cord ties. The flag bears numerous signatures and slogans, including “Eternal Good Fortune in Combat”. Other writings include “The Souls of All the People”, signed by Satō Moriichi; “Congratulations on your military enlistment”, signed by Kondō Katsukichi; “Heroic courage in public service to the nation”, signed by Yamaguchi Yonakauta; “Praying for certain victory”, signed by Saitō Yoshie; “One Hundred Million Hearts as One”, signed by Kurohane Kaneji; “Sacrificing Oneself for the State”, signed by Yamaguchi Shōji; “Praying for your good health”, signed by Satō Mitsu and Satō Yoshie; and other statements and signatures. The flag exhibits spots and some very small holes or separations, but overall the flag is in very good condition.
