Japanese Wakizashi Short Sword Signed “Kunitomo” with Kozuka Knife

The wakizashi short sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 26 inches, with a blade length of approximately 18 inches. The blade has two parallel fuller lines on the top, with the blade itself having spots, scratches, relatively minor nicks to the cutting edge and a tiny bend on the tip. The habaki blade collar has a geometric decoration. The grip is light sharkskin with a black covering, with the sharkskin having cracks. The grip bears toned silver cherry blossom menuki on each side. The tsuba guard is a pierced style with butterflies and relief cherry blossoms. Both the collar and the pommel cap are decorated. The tang shows surface rust and it is signed “Kunitomo”(There were 22 smiths named “Kunitomo” who created swords between the years 1190 and 1764). The short sword has a Kozuka knife, approximately 8-1/4 inches in length, with spots and age to the blade. The black wood scabbard exhibits some wear and age and is missing its loop knob.
