Boxed 1933 Japanese Army Cavalry Desk Paperweight

Approximately 2-1/2 inches by 3 inches. The paperweight shows some surface dirt and uncleaned patina on the brass shell casing. The piece exhibits kanji which indicates the 1933 Army Day “Kōka Commemoration”. Overall very good condition. The interior of the box lid identifies the contents as a horseshoe-shaped paperweight manufactured by Kaikōsha, featuring text referencing calligraphy by General Sadao Araki during operations involving enemy forces amidst the Manchurian Incident. The paperweight was manufactured by Kaikōsha, located in Kudan, Tokyo. Kaikōsha was an association and social club for Imperial Japanese Army officers. The paperweight is wrapped within a protective cloth and it is in very good condition. The box lid has split corners but overall it is in good condition.
