Named WWII 8th Air Force B-17 Pilot’s Insignia Group

The group is comprised of the overseas cap and the insignia of Lieutenant Ethan A. Allen of the Army Air Force. The historical website of the 8thb Air Force (“8af.org”) identifies Allen as a B-17 pilot in the 8th Air Force. The group includes the large embroidered flight jacket patch of the 369th Bombardment Squadron, approximately 5 inches in diameter. Also in the group is an 8th Air Force shoulder patch, embroidered on wool; an officer’s visor cap metal eagle; a full size pin back sterling pilot wing by Amcraft; a full size bullion embroidered pilot wing; a, embroidered cloth pilot wing on khaki, within its original cellophane envelope; two leather flight jacket name tags for “E.A. Allen”; a set of leather First Lieutenant rank insignia; and a set of sew on ribbons for the European Theater Medal with two campaign stars; the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters; and the Distinguished Flying Cross. The group also includes several business cards for Lieutenant Allen, as well as his named khaki wool overseas cap, which has a few tiny holes. All of the items in the group exhibit signs of age and use, but overall the items are in very good condition.
