The katana has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 34 inches, with a blade length of approximately 21 inches from the tip to the base of the tang. The blade shows spots and scratches, but it is without chips, nicks, or active rust. The blade displays a visible temper line. The tang has two mounting holes and it is unsigned. The grip is covered in light sharkskin beneath brown fabric which is wrapped in the traditional fashion. Beneath the wrapping on each side are figural menuki. The iron tsuba guard displays incised gold linear decorations, with the cap of the grip having a decorative motif. The brown leather scabbard cover exhibits spots and scuffs, but it is complete and intact. Overall the sword is in very good condition. The grip retention peg was removed from the sword for the purpose of photographing the tang and it will be replaced prior to shipment of the sword.
