The leather surface of the helmet shows typical age crazing as well as some scratches. The brass spike, spike base, front visor edge, rear spine, and the front brass Prussian wappen plate all show a dark and uncleaned patina over the gilt finish. The helmet has national colors and Prussian cockades. The original chin strap appears to be a replacement. The Prussian front plate is retained on the helmet though two holes. The liner is present on the interior, showing age and use, but it is complete and intact. There is an indistinct manufacturer stamp on the interior. The helmet shows age and signs of wear, with a film of dust and grime, but it retains a fine shape and overall it makes a very good appearance.
