The leather surface of the helmet shows the usually seen scuffs and scratches, as well as age crazing and minor chips of the surface. The spike, spike base, and the front Wurttemberg wappen plate all show some loss of finish and patina. The head of the stag of the front plate was broken off and is gone. The helmet has oversized replacement national colors and Prussian cockades. The original chin strap shows age, being somewhat dry and cracked, and the front segment of the strap is broken on the right side. The Wurttemberg front plate is retained on the helmet though two holes. The liner is present on the interior, showing age and use, but it is complete and intact. The interior rear visor is unit marked to the 9th Foot Artillery Regiment. The helmet shows age and signs of wear, but it retains a fine shape and overall it makes a very good appearance.
