The bayonet has a bird head pommel and a straight quillon. The blade shows age patina and spots, with areas of rust, but the blued finish is largely intact. The blade bears marking on the ricasso which reflect production by Matsushita Metals under Kokura Arsenal Supervision. The guard and the pommel retain much of their finish, with some wear and rust. The slightly contoured wood grip plates show darkening with age but they are intact. The pommel is numbered. The scabbard shows age to the finish with surface rust. The scabbard similarly exhibits surface rust on the finish. Overall good field used condition.
