WWI German Soldier’s Death Accolade

The cardboard accolade document is approximately 13-1/2 inches by 18-3/4 inches. The document memorializes Georg Michael Göbels, a soldier who died in 1915. The text indicates Göbels was an Unteroffizier (non-commissioned officer) of the 42nd Landwehr Brigade Ersatz Battalion from Frankfurt who died on March 10, 1915, in Grabbie, Russia. The document served as an official certificate of death (“Amtliche Beurkundung”) from the Frankfurt civil registry. There appears to be a handwritten notation on the reverse side. The document shows age toning but overall it is in very good condition and it makes an impressive appearance.
