The lacquered wood tray is approximately 8-1/4 inches by 11-7/8 inches. The central area of the tray displays an Imperial Army star as well as Japanese flags and a map of China. The surfaces of the tray exhibit some cracks and chips, but the tray makes a very good appearance.
