Spanish American War Filipino Canteen with Capture Notation

The wooden tube canteen is approximately 18-3/4 inches long, and it retains its rope shoulder cord. The canteen has a label affixed to it which bears the handwritten notation of “Filipino Canteen from the Trenches at Manila September 1898”. with the label also having what appears to be the name of the sailor who captured the canteen. This same information, without the name of the sailor, is also written on the canteen itself below the label.
