Camouflaged Model 1916 German Combat Helmet by C. Thiel & Söhne

$1,750.00

The helmet was camouflaged with areas of green, tan and red-brown, and with those areas being separated by wide black borders in accordance with the regulations of 1918. The exterior paint shows spots, scuffs and abrasions consistent with use in the field. The three pad leather liner with leather liner band is intact on the interior, with the “pillows” behind the leather tongues retaining their filling. The leather liner tongues remain pliable and complete. The drawstring is not present, nor is the chin strap, although the metal bales for attachment of the chin strap remain on the interior lugs. The interior of the helmet shell is marked “TJ 66”, reflecting a size 66 shell manufactured by the firm of C. Thiel & Söhne of Lubeck. Overall a helmet by an uncommon maker in very good field used condition and making a fine appearance.
