Imperial Prussian Model 1894 First Fusilier Guard Regiment Grenadier Miter Helmet
$3,750.00
The miter helmet was worn by the personnel of the First Fusilier Guard Regiment of Prussia. The helmet is approximately 14 inches tall, inclusive of the red wool pom-pom on the peak. The body of the helmet is constructed of pale yellow wool which was trimmed with flat white braid. The silvered front plate displays the Prussian eagle with grenade embellishments to the design around the circumference of the helmet base. The chin strap is no longer present on the helmet. The wool body shows typical spots and surface soiling, as well as some sun fading of the yellow wool, but it is generally very clean and it is without holes, damage or repairs. The front plate and silvered circumference hat band both exhibit an uncleaned patina. The leather sweatband is present, showing use and age crazing, but it is complete and intact. There is a name and unit tag stitched to the sweatband which identifies the owner of the helmet as “Einj-Freim Gefreiter / Uhlig / 9 Komp Garbe-Regt. f.j.”. Overall the helmet is in very good condition and it makes an impressive appearance.
