Excellent Condition 1916 Dated Model S98/05 Dress “Butcher Blade” Sawback Bayonet by WKC with Frog and Portepee

The bayonet has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 20-1/2 inches. The blade surfaces exhibit small scattered spots but overall it is very clean and generally quite bright. The ricasso bears the maker mark of the firm of Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie. The spine shows the Imperial German inspection mark as well as the date of “16”. The wood grip plates are similarly very clean and without chips or cracks. Both the guard and the pommel have a fine and intact finish. The finish of the scabbard exhibits age and wear but it is largely intact. The leather frog is manufacturer marked and dated 1914. The original portepee is tied around the frog. Overall the bayonet is exceptionally clean and it makes a very impressive appearance.
