Imperial Japanese Type 18 Murata Bayonet

The bayonet was used with the Meiji 18 Murata Rifle and it has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 24 inches. The blade exhibits surface grime, spots, and scratches from use in the field, as well as several nicks and chips on the cutting edge. The guard and the pommel show spots and uncleaned patina while retaining much of the original dark finish. The pommel is serial numbered. The wood grips have age toning as well as semi-circular pock marks from use in the field but they are without damage. The bayonet is within its original leather scabbard, which is dry and bears scuffs and flaking of the surfaces, as well as horizontal indentations and a small reverse hole. Overall the bayonet is in good field used condition.
