The body of the field gray wool cap is very clean, without holes, damage or repairs. The cap is piped in red wool with a red wool cap band. The front of the cap displays the national colors and the Prussian colors cockades. The red cap band is covered by an adjustable khaki colored band to camouflage the cap in the field. The surface of the visor shows fine age crazing. The interior of the cap retains the leather sweatband, with some cracks and loss of stitching. The lining of the crown bears the stenciled name of “Gefr. Simon”. Overall the cap exhibits great character and it is in excellent condition.
