Imperial Japanese Type 18 Murata Bayonet with Frog

The bayonet was used with the Meiji 18 Murata Rifle and it has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 23 inches. The blade retains a dark finish with spots and scratches from use in the field. The guard and the pommel retain their original dark finish. The wood grips have age toning as well as minor pock marks but they are without damage and bears an incised Japanese number. The bayonet is within its original leather scabbard, which is dry and bears scuffs and flaking of the surfaces, with a split seam on the rear and a horizontal crack, but the scabbard remains intact. The bayonet frog is in place and while it is also dry and soiled, it is complete. Overall the bayonet is in good field used condition.
