The blade of the dagger is quite dark, showing scratches and surface grime. The blade is unmarked by any maker. The leather washer remains in place at the top of the ricasso. The black Bakelite grips are without chips or cracks. set into the grip is the enamel Hitler Youth dagger, which is without chips or cracks but showing dark age lines. The pommel and guard exhibit some loss of the plating, particularly on the area of the pommel which was in contact with the leather retention strap. The gloss black paint of the scabbard is largely intact, as is the black leather belt hanger.
