WWI and WWII Father and Son Purple Heart Medals Groups

The group is comprised of the World War I and World War II medals of Vincent L. Kelley and his son, R.R. Kelley. Vincent Kelley’s medals include a Purple Heart for wounds in the First World War, split brooch suspension, numbered on the edge “65686”, and officially engraved with his name. The ribbon shows soiling and wear, with the medal having wear to the finish. The group includes a copy of the Adjutant General Officer record card confirming that Kelley was wounded in action on May 6, 1918, and noting that Kelley served as a Private in Company D of the 104th Infantry Regiment, a component of the 26th Division. The Victory Medal is present, with the bars “Aisne-Marne”; “Champagne-Marne”; “St. Mihiel”; “Meuse-Argonne”; and “Defensive Sector”. Also a part of the group is the World War I local service medal for Maynard, Massachusetts, which is named yo Kelley. The group includes the World War II American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal, both on crimp brooch suspensions. The group further contains Kelly’s World War I dog tag. The medals of Kelley’s son are comprised of the Purple Heart, slot brooch suspension the edge numbered “155617”, and the reverse privately hand engraved on three linesĀ  “R.R. Kelley / 31509374 / 1944”. Also present are the American Campaign Medal; the European Campaign Medal; and the Army of Occupation Medal, all crimp brooch suspension, as well as the World War II Victory Medal on a slot brooch suspension. Overall the group is in very good condition.
