The helmet shows much of the original horizon blue paint as intact, with typical abrasions, scuffs, and scratches, as well as spots of rust and minor indentations. The front of the helmet bears the insignia of the French Colonial Infantry and Naval Forces. The helmet is lacking both the liner and the chin strap.
