The bicorne hat shows age toning of the bullion, with wear to fur on the edges, but overall it is in good condition with the hat making a nice appearance. The interior leather sweatband is intact, with the purple crown lining being intact. The metal carrying case for the hat shows age, but the case is intact. Affixed to the case is a brass name plate which is engraved “Saml. Cole Esq. 2 Master Royal Engineers”.
