Wartime Correspondence Group from a German Prisoner of War in New York
$225.00
The group is comprised of multiple letters and cards from German Army Gefreiter Josef Stolz, who it seems was taken prisoner in 1943 and interned at Camp Livingston in New York. The letters are written in German and bear American censor stamps, with two having markings which appear to indicated that they were opened by German censors as well. The group also includes several pieces of mail that were sent within wartime Germany and which have Adolf Hitler postage stamps. The group further includes a 1951 West German identity card which appears to have belonged to the father of the prisoner of war. Overall the group is in very good condition.
