Civil War Confederate Foot Artillery Short Sword by Louis Froelich

The sword has an overall length of approximately 23-1/4 inches, with a blade length of approximately 18-1/4 inches, the blade being of gladius form and with an unstopped fuller on each side. The sword has a cast, one piece, brass hilt which is comprised of the  guard, the scaled grip, and the pommel. The entire hilt exhibits a dark and uncleaned patina. The blade has a very dark patina as well as pitting and some surface rust. The extreme point of the sword blade is gone.
