The photograph has a typed description on the reverse with the designation of “Nur fur den Dienstgebrauch!” (“For official use only!”). The photograph has two file folder holes in the side. Generalleutnant Ernst Rupp was killed on 30 May 1943, near Krymsk, in the Soviet Union during the operations at the Kuban bridgehead.
