Knight’s Cross Recipient and West German Bundesluftwaffe General Friedrich Körner Signed Photograph and Insignia Group

The group is comprised of a signed photograph of Bundesluftwaffe Generla Friedrich Korner, approximately 5 inches by 7-1/8 inches. The photograph depicts Korner in uniform, with ribbons which reflect his service in World War II as a Luftwaffe fighter pilot and ace, who was credited with 36 aerial victories and who was the recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. The photograph bears an inscription and signature of Korner, which shows wear. The group further includes the slip on rank insignia of a Bundesluftwaffe Brigadier General for the fatigue uniform; a pair of Brigadier General sew in shoulder straps for the service uniform as worn in the photograph, with scrap book paper residue on the reverse; the bullion collar tabs of a General, as worn on the collar in the photograph; and the bullion pilot badge worn on the uniform, which was removed from a uniform. Friedrich Körner was credited with 36 victories in over 250 missions in North Africa while flying an ME-109 fighter. He was shot down and was a prisoner of war in Canada. He died in 1998.
