One side of the aluminum match safe bears an image of a German biplane and the designation of “Montfaucon Oct. 26 ’18”. The opposite side has the initials “R.H.B.” and the unit “23rd Engrs.”. The spine of the match safe reads “Boche Finish Nov. 11 1918”. The period match box remains inside of the match safe.
