WWII 14th Air Force Sergeant First Class Air Gunner Tunic and A-2 Flight Jacket

$975.00

The tunic is a four pocket example with an interior Quartermaster Depot tag bearing the date of 1940 and a stated size of 38 Regular. The collar has clutch back “U.S.” and Army Air Force disks. On the upper left breast is a 3 inch pin back sterling silver aerial gunner wing. Below the wing is a plastic covered three place ribbon bar which carries the ribbons for the Pacific Theater Medal with a campaign star; the Air Medal with oak leaf cluster; and the Distinguished Flying Cross. On the left shoulder is the fully embroidered patch of the 14th Air Force, while the right shoulder bears a printed theater made patch of the China Burma India theater. Each sleeve has the rank chevrons of a Sergeant First Class. The upper right breast has the “Ruptured Duck” honorable discharge patch. The interior of the collar is marked as a size 38 and it bears two laundry marks which appear to be “P9526” and “M4439”. The bottom front button is missing, but overall the tunic is in excellent condition. Also with the group is the Sergeant’s cotton khaki shirt. The shirt has a size tag of 14-1/2-32, with the rank chevrons of a Sergeant First Class on each sleeve and a fully embroidered 14th Air Force patch on the left shoulder. The shirt is in very good condition. Accompanying the tunic and shirt is the Sergeant’s A-2 leather flight jacket. The jacket exhibits typical scuffing and signs of wear and use, but the leather is supple and the jacket is intact. The lining, waistband, and cuffs appear to have been replaced at some time in the past. The manufacturer tag, with a size of 38, remains in the jacket collar. The front left breast of the jacket shows stitch holes where there was a squadron patch and a name tag on the jacket. The rear of the jacket has a large multi-piece leather American flag. Overall the A-2 jacket is in very good condition.
