WWII Japanese Army Officer Shin Gunto Sword in Leather Combat Scabbard Cover
$1,250.00
The sword with an old blade has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 34 inches, with a blade length of approximately 22 inches. The blade shows scratches and mossy spots, particularly on both sides of the lower areas of the blade, but the blade is without nicks, chips, or active rust. The tang exhibits rust and it is unsigned. The grip is wrapped in the traditional fashion with dark brown fabric. Beneath the wrapping on both sides are figural menuki. The ray skin grip covering the fabric wrapping has a crack on one side. The tsuba guard is a solid style with relief cherry blossoms, while having an opening through which a cloure strap connects from the ferrule to the snap on top of the leather scabbard cover. The pommel cap has a relief decorative design. The leather combat scabbard cover shows scuffs and abrasions but it is complete and intact.
