Boxed US Navy APH-5 Flight Helmet

The exterior of the helmet exhibits some scuffs and scratches, with spots of wear to the gold finish, particularly in areas where the pilot’s hands came into contact with the helmet to remove it or to affix the oxygen mask. The sun visor is present. One of the two internal foam ear cup pads is only partially complete, with the pad having broken apart from drying due to age. An interior pad is missing from the rear of the helmet. The avionics cord is intact. The helmet is contained within a portion of its original cardboard box from the Mine Safety Appliance Company. Within the box are three replacement helmet liner pads as well as a paper packet containing shims for the phone housing; instructions for replacing the eye shield; and the sizing instrument for the helmet, inside of a large envelope which bears printed instructions for its use.
