The soldbuch was issued on 10 September, 1939, with the notations on page 2 apparently indicating that the the soldier served in a Panzer abwehr, or tank destroyer, unit. Page 22 of the soldbuch records that the soldier was the recipient of the 1939 Iron Cross, Second Class; the Eastern Front Campaign Medal; and the War Merit Cross, Second Class, with Swords. The soldbuch shows significant use and signs of carrying in the field, but all pages are present.
