Wurttemberg Officer Pickelhaube with Field Cover and Carrying Case
$1,750.00
The leather pickelhaube exterior is exceptionally clean, with a fine finish and showing only age crazing on the rear visor. The fire gilt brass front plate, spike, base, rear spine, and the fittings and fish scale chin strap all show a nicely toned and uncleaned patina. Both the officer cockade and the Wurttemberg cockade are present on the sides of the helmet. The small buckle on the leather strap behind the fish scale chin strap has become detached, but the buckle remains with the helmet. The silk lining of the helmet shows some separations of the material but the lining remains present. The wide leather sweatband is also present on the interior. The helmet is accompanied by the cloth field cover which is dated “1916” on the interior. The cover is without holes, damage or repairs. Also with the helmet is the leather carrying case. The leather straps on the case are dry but intact. Overall the helmet, cover and case are in excellent condition and they make a very impressive appearance.
