The leather shell of the helmet exhibits spots and scuffs as well as age crazing and some dulling of the finish, but the helmet retains a very good shape. The brass front visor trim, the front plate, the brass spike, and the rear spine all show wear to the finish and a dark, uncleaned patina. The helmet retains two cockades, both of which have lost most of their paint. The brown leather chin strap is a reproduction. The interior leather liner is dry but complete, to include the drawstring, although the top of one of the leather tongues is torn at the hole through which the drawstring passes. Overall the helmet is in good service used condition.
