WWII Japanese Army Type 95 NCO Sword by Tokyo Arsenal with Matching Numbers and Bullet Damaged Scabbard
$1,250.00
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 38 inches, with a blade length of approximately 26 inches. The blade shows spots, scratches, and scattered small spots of pitting, but the blade is without nicks, chips or active rust. The blade bears the number “68177”, placed on the blade in such a way that the number can be read with the cutting edge parallel to the ground, indicating production by the Tokyo Arsenal. The matching number of “68177” appears on the top of the scabbard throat. The fuchi collar at the base of the grip has the marks of the Suya Company; the Tokyo Arsenal; and the Kokura Arsenal. The tsuba brass guard is a pierced design. The grip shows wear to the brown paint but significant paint remains. The edge of the metal scabbard has an indentation and a hole where the scabbard was struck by bullet. Overall the sword is in good field used condition.
