The finish of the blade is generally clean, showing some spots and surface dirt as well as what appears to be a coat of old oil. The ricasso bears the Kokura Aresenal mark. The tapered wood grip plates exhibit age, with toning and signs of use, but they are without chips or cracks. The curved quillon and the pommel exhibit a largely intact finish. The end of the pommel is numbered. The scabbard shows wear to the finish, with scuffs and abrasions from use in the field as well as some surface rust.
