The group is comprised of the medals, dog tags, ribbon bar, and an authorization document for war souvenirs of Joseph Kitchin, who served in the European Theater with the 7th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Infantry Division. The group includes the cased Silver Star, slot brooch suspension, unnamed as awarded in the theater of operations, with a length of ribbon, an enamel lapel badge, and a plastic covered ribbon bar for the Silver Star; the cased Purple Heart, slot brooch suspension, unnamed as awarded in the theater of operations, with an enamel lapel badge and ribbon bar; the Army Good Conduct Medal, unnamed as awarded, slot brooch suspension, with a length of ribbon, an enamel lapel badge, and a ribbon bar; the European Campaign Medal, crimp brooch suspension; the World War II Victory Medal, crimp brooch suspension; Kitchin’s plastic covered ribbon bar, with the ribbons for the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the European Campaign Medal with four campaign stars; Kitchin’s dog tags; a “Ruptured Duck” honorable discharge lapel badge; and a document authorizing Kitchin to keep various German war souvenirs. The group also includes a few pages of research on Kitchin from the internet. The cases for the decorations show spots, and the medals exhibit signs of age, but overall the items in the group are in very good condition.
