Kriegsmarine Officer Dagger with Etched Blade by Carl Eickhorn with Hangers and Portepee

The dagger blade is generally quite bright, with some spots and surface grime, but with a fine etched design on each side of a fouled anchor and making an excellent appearance. The celluloid grip is cream colored and it remains tightly wrapped in twisted wire. The grip is toned from age and use, and it shows a closed horizontal crack that runs around two center segments, but the grip has no loss or material and it is intact. The eagle pommel and the guard exhibit uncleaned patina, with the pommel having toned to a copper color. The scabbard similarly shows an even and dark patina, with a few shallow indentations. The original silver portepee is tied in the classic Kriegsmarine “reefer knot”, with spots of wear to the cord above the stem. The hangers exhibit relatively light wear, and the hangers are complete and intact, with fine gilt finish present on the fittings. Overall the set is in excellent condition.
