Named U.S. Marine Corps “USM” Model 1874 McKeever Cartridge Box by Watervliet Arsenal

The cartridge box shows age, with some crazing and puckering of the leather surfaces. The cover flap bears the impressed “USM” designation. The interior fabric cartridge loops are present. The brass components show patina and verdigris. The rear of the closure flap bears the somewhat faint imprint of the Watervliet Arsenal. The interior of the box bears the handwritten name of “John R. Gray”. Overall the box is in very good condition.
