SS Non Commissioned Officer’s Sword by Krebs with Portepee

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 39 inches, with a blade length of approximately 32-1/2 inches. The blade has a matte satin finish and, while it shows some spots and surface dirt, it is generally very clean. The ricasso bears the trademark of the Krebs firm, with a white leather washer at the top of the blade. The ebony wood grip is without chips or cracks. The pommel displays the SS runes in relief against a burnished background. The ferrule has a dark patina, while the guard and the knuckle bow exhibit some speckling and loss of the plated finish. Tied around the hilt is the original SS non commissioned officer’s portepee, which has age toning but which is complete, intact, and showing little wear and no fraying. The scabbard shows some scratches, but the paint is largely intact. Overall the sword is in very good condition.
