Prussian Cross of Merit for Women and Girls 1870-71

$2,250.00

The decoration is in the form of an Iron Cross, although with a center of black enamel. The obverse center displays a red Geneva cross, while the reverse bears the Prussian crown, below which are the initials of Kaiser Wilhelm and Kaiserin Augusta, and the dates of 1870 and 1871. There is a tiny and barely visible scuff to the black enamel next to the “1” in “1871”, but otherwise the enamel is in superb condition. The silver frame has a dark and uncleaned patina. The decoration is suspended on a correct and original ladies bow configured from the ribbon for the non-combatant Iron Cross. The ribbon shows relatively minor signs of age, with just a bit of separation of the rear stitching. A scarce Prussian decoration in overall very good to excellent condition.
