Japanese Edo Period Tanto Signed Sukemune

The wakizashi has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 21 inches, with a blade length of approximately 12 inches. The blade has a matte finish and, while the blade exhibits some scratches and small inclusions, the blade is quite clean and without nicks, chips, or active rust. The blade shows a narrow temper line on the cutting edge. The tang has a single mounting hole and is lightly signed “Sukemune. The tsuba guard has a relief ornamentation, with the ferrule and the pommel also showing decorative designs. The grip is wrapped in the traditional style in black fabric. The grip has a sharkskin wrap and decorative menuki beneath the wrapping on both sides. Overall very good to excellent condition.
