1858 Dated KPM Porcelain Cups and Saucer Presented by a Soldier of the 15th (2nd Westphalian) Infantry “Prince Frederick of the Netherlands” to His Brother and Sister in Law

$175.00

Each of the cups has a height of approximately 3 inches, with a top diameter of approximately 4 inches. One of the cups has a saucer, which is approximately 6-1/4 inches in diameter. Both the cups and the saucer bear the mark of the KPM porcelain firm. One of the cups bears an image of a soldier shaking hands with a civilian. The cup is named to “Dem Hausherrn (“The Master of the House”) Herman Frye”. The saucer bears a gilt dedication of “Andenken von deinem Bruder Wilhelm Richr. 8 Comp. 15 Inftr. Reg. Minden 1858” (“In Memory of your brother Wilhelm Richr. 8 Comp. 15 Inftr. Reg. Minden 1858”). The second cup is named to “Der Hausfrau (“The Housewife”) Louise Frye”. The cup and saucer set was obviously presented to Herman and Louise Frye by Herman’s brother, Wilhelm Richard Frye while Wilhelm was serving in the 15th Infantry Regiment in 1858. The 15th Infantry Regiment was formed in 1813 and it was the 15th (2nd Westphalian) Infantry Regiment with the honor title of “Prince Frederick of the Netherlands”. Both the cups and saucer show signs of age, with some wear to the gilt decoration and to the lettering of the saucer, but they are without chips or cracks and are overall in very good condition.
