Published 1934 Dated Japanese Army Presentation Company Grade Officer Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 35 inches, with a blade length of approximately 28 inches. The blade is very bright, showing a few minor spots, but being generally quite clean and displaying a visible and distinct temper line. Engraved on back strap of the hilt is an extensive kanji inscription which reads “Presented by the 29th Youth  Training Institute, Showa 9 (1934) on the day of their graduation”. The celluloid grip is without chips or cracks and it remains tightly triple wrapped with brass wire. The guard and pommel display fine detail and reflect an uncleaned patina. The nickel plated scabbard has an intact finish with uncleaned surface dirt. The sword was published in a reference book on Japanese swords, and that page is included with the sword.
