Italian Model 1923 Air Force Officer Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 38 inches, with a blade length of approximately 31 inches. The blade bears etched designs of the Cross of Savoy on both sides for approximately half the length of the blade. The blade surfaces show spots, speckling of the finish, and verdigris. The guard is a basket style with a fold-down section. The basket guard and the eagle head pommel all show a dark and uncleaned patina, beneath which there are areas of the gilt finish remaining. The fittings on the leather scabbard all exhibit dark patina. The leather scabbard is dry, and it has a break in the upper area, but it remains intact.
