WWI 1915 Mettlach Stein of a Prisoner of War Camp Guard

The half liter stoneware stein has an overall height of approximately 6-1/2 inches, exclusive of the thumb lift. The body of the stein bears the image of two Jaeger troops. The lid in inlaid with a stoneware disk bearing the designation of “Kriegsgefangenenlager Germersheim Weinachten 1915”, indicating the Prisoner of War Camp at Germersheim, Christmas, 1915. The Germersheim camp held 6,000 prisoners. The base of the stein bears a portion of the impressed Mettlach mark as well as “Bavaria”. The stein is in near mint condition, without chips or cracks.
