WWI U.S. Marine Corps Officer Bell Crown Visor Cap by Horstmann

The cap is in exceptional condition, with a very fine shape and with the blue wool body being without tears, stains, or holes. The surface of the black leather visor shows typical age crazing and an indentation of approximately 3/4 of an inch in length. The large eagle, globe and anchor insignia on the front shows an uncleaned patina. The reverse of the insignia is unmarked. The gold chin strap exhibits age toning. The strap is secured with Marine buttons. The interior retains the full wide leather sweat band. The lining of the crown is intact and bears the mark of the Horstmann firm. Overall the cap is extremely clean and makes an impressive appearance.
