Army / Waffen SS Special Grade “50” General Assault Badge by Rudolf Karneth & Sohne

The heavy, riveted, badge is in excellent condition. The badge is multi piece construction, and it was die struck in a zinc alloy composition, with a burnished finish to the eagle, grenade, and bayonet component of the badge. The wreath has a toned, matte gray, finish on the oak leaf wreath. The badge was assembled with four domed rivets. The reverse exhibits a barrel hinge with a base plate that is set into  a recess which retains the plate with crimped edges, and a wide pin with soldered “C” catch. The reverse of the wreath bears the stylized initials of “RK” within a circle, reflecting manufacture of the badge by the firm of Rudolf Karneth & Son of Gablonz.
