Each of the framed color engravings measures approximately 20 1/2 inches by 24 inches. The portrait of Lee bears the printed statement that it was entered in the Library of Congress in 1870. It also bears the designation that it was engraved by A.B. Walter. Below the portrait is the statement that it was being sold under the authority of the “Monument Association” to raise funds for the erection of a monument to Lee at the tomb of Lee at Washington and Lee University. The portrait of Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson also bears Walter’s name as engraver as well as the statement that it was entered in the Library of Congress in 1871. The portrait also includes the statement that it was being sold under the authority of the “Monument Association” to raise funds for the erection of a monument to Jackson at the Virginia Military Institute. The portraits show age toning but are in overall very good condition.
